NACAC’s Guide to Ethical Practice in College Admission reflects the association’s long-standing commitment to principled conduct among professionals who support students in the college transition process from secondary school to postsecondary education and in the transfer process between postsecondary institutions.
Due to the cancellation of the 2020 Assembly, prior to the 2020 Virtual Conference the NACAC Assembly Delegates voted via written consent to approve the replacement of the Code of Ethics and Professional Practices (CEPP) with the best practices document, Guide to Ethical Practice in College Admission. This change went into effect immediately.
Resources
Our friends at SACAC have created this helpful resource of ethical dilemmas.
Purpose
The Education and Ethics Committee is tasked with sharing general knowledge of NACAC’s Guide to Ethical Practice in College Admission (GEPCA) as well as any pertinent updates with both the IACAC membership and our college admission counseling community overall. The GEPCA reflects the association’s long-standing commitment to principled conduct among professionals who support students in the college transition process from secondary school to postsecondary education and in the transfer process between postsecondary institutions.
Education and Ethics currently meets regularly to evaluate ethical trends in college admissions, determine future goals and objectives, and organize strategic priorities in order to best serve the members of IACAC and the students of Illinois. We are committed to educating members about the importance of best admission practices.
