An Experience I Won’t Forget
Adam Rich, University of Wisconsin Oshkosh
I had the pleasure of attending the IACAC Annual Conference for the first time. Going into the conference, I wasn’t sure exactly what to expect. One of my colleagues had raved about the conference, assuring me that it provides countless opportunities for professional development through informative sessions and invaluable networking opportunities.
Truth be told, I was still a little bit nervous, not sure how I would react to being one of the rookies in a room full of veterans. However, I can honestly say that everybody associated with the conference put me at ease from the second I arrived. In large part due to the amazing sessions that allowed first timer’s to see that they clearly weren’t alone, and the friendliness of all counselors and college representatives, the conference became much more than a professional development opportunity; it was fun!
Not only did I learn a great deal that I’ve taken back to the office with me, but I also met amazing people that I will continue to be in contact with. Without the conference, these relationships would not have been possible.
I would like to thank anyone and everyone who had a role in planning this conference—I can’t begin to imagine how much time, effort, and energy went into making the conference as successful as it was (and has been, and will continue to be). I look forward to returning in the future!
