Considering the recently adopted strategic plan for IACAC, what do you hope to achieve within this role as it pertains to the objectives of new plan?
The position of Secretary holds a very unique role in the execution of the new strategic plan’s objectives. The implementation of this strategic plan will provide IACAC the opportunity to communicate its strategy to the membership, and as Secretary, I would welcome the chance to document this critical information during meetings and assist in relaying these essential messages to members. The preserving of accurate historical data and detailed record-keeping will be of the utmost importance as the organization progresses with this plan and with strategic plans yet to come.
Furthermore, the strategic plan will provide IACAC the focus and direction required to move from idea to action. To assist with this development, the Secretary should provide any needed historical context by accessing previous records and data, and my goal would be to serve as an intermediary, connecting the past to the future. As a non-voting member of the Finance Committee, the Secretary should also be engaged in the sound financial management of IACAC, and I would strive to serve in whatever capacity this committee required. Additionally, as Secretary, I would be prepared to keep committees informed and to confirm all deadlines, responsibilities, and goals are met to ensure the continued success of the strategic plan.
If elected, what experiences, skills, and qualities do you bring to this specific position?
As a candidate for the position of IACAC Secretary, I am honored and delighted to have been nominated. Over the course of nearly 16 years in the college admission field, this organization has provided me with more professional wisdom, personal support, and all-around inspiration than I could ever hope to repay. I would love to contribute both my past experiences and my future ambitions to the already outstanding foundation of this organization and to help it achieve its desired success in the coming years.
I feel the role of Secretary in particular is a great fit for me, as attention to detail, organization, and dependability are some of my strongest traits. I recently took the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator test, and my results were Introversion, Sensing, Feeling, and Judging, or ISFJ. ISFJs are known to be realistic, practical, and cooperative. We clearly remember details, respect facts, and take our roles and responsibilities seriously. And according to the Star Wars version, I am C-3PO! While I’d obviously prefer to be Princess Leia, C-3PO is a pretty good option, too, especially for the role of Secretary. I’m no Star Wars expert, but according to Wookieepedia, C-3PO’s main function is “to assist in etiquette, customs, and translation, so meetings of different cultures run smoothly.” If elected to the role of Secretary, I would assist the many “cultures” of IACAC in smooth and successful meetings with my substantial planning, organized record-keeping, and appropriate follow-up. Thank you so very much for your time and consideration!

Considering the recently adopted strategic plan for IACAC, what do you hope to achieve within this role as it pertains to the objectives of new plan?
If elected to be the new Secretary of IACAC, I will make sure to support and embrace the recently adopted strategic plan. I hope to enhance and contribute to the Membership while performing the day to day activities of my present position with Missouri S&T. Membership will have direct access to the minutes I would be responsible for providing. As a detailed note taker, I can ensure the membership that my minutes of all meetings would be thorough and allow the reader to feel as if they were present at the meeting. As Secretary, I would be a member of the Media Communications Committee. It is within this committee that I will work towards Goal 3: Educational Opportunities and Goal 4: Outreach, of the Strategic Plan. I hope to be able to look at additional ways the Media Communications Committee, and me in the role as Secretary, will maintain and grow the strong IACAC brand. I will do my best to make sure that the decisions I make will uphold and enhance the diversity of our organization and the students we serve. Above all, I am a dedicated and hardworking professional. I am reliable and detail-oriented which is important to the Secretary position within IACAC. I look forward to possibly serving IACAC and the membership in an executive board role.
If elected, what experiences, skills, and qualities do you bring to this specific position?
If elected, I would build upon my previous experience as Chicago Area Regional Representatives (CARR) Secretary. During my time as CARR secretary, I was comfortable taking comprehensive and detailed meeting minutes. I also made sure the minutes were disbursed to the group in a timely fashion after each meeting. In addition, I routinely took meeting minutes and notes for other committees and organizations. My background has provided me the necessary experience to be immediately productive as Secretary for IACAC. Lastly, I have served on various IACAC committees, becoming a member of the Media Communications Committee is something I would welcome.
