First Middle Management Institute
NACAC and the Imagine Grant continue to be very supportive of IACAC and the development of new programming for its members and the students they serve. This summer, the Imagine Grant helped to get IACAC’s first ever Middle Management Institute (MMI) off the ground.
The inaugural event, hosted by Elmhurst College, welcomed 30 aspiring and/or current middle managers from Missouri, Iowa, Michigan, and Illinois. The group of attendees included admission professionals ranging in experience from 2-30 years.
Sessions included the “DiSC” leadership assessment, Leadership vs. Management, a question and answer session with a panel of Dean and Directors, as well as an overview of Enrollment Management. In addition to all of the sessions during the day, there was also a chance for all the participants to interact informally during a networking dinner at Francesca’s in Elmhurst.
The MMI Committee is co-chaired by Anne Kremer (DePaul University) and Nate Bargar (Illinois State University). Additional committee members include Allegra Giulietti-Schmitt (Highland Park High School), Sacha Thieme (DePaul University), Julie Nelson (Xavier University), Stephanie Levenson (Elmhurst College), and Lori Greene (Loyola University-Chicago). Planning has already begun for next year’s MMI which will hopefully take place in early June 2012.
